More ideas on building social community oriented service

Today we've talked about the future of the Wikidot.com service. The primary aim is to be even more social than we are. This includes:
- OpenSocial API (it is now just about to the first public beta release)
- Blog platform (actually, when creating a new wiki — there will be "blog" template to choose and adding a blog to any wiki will be even simpler)
- A new sense of friendship and contact management in Wikidot. Each friend will have to accept your apply for friendship and it will then become your friend (and you theirs)
- Everywhere you choose users (invite, write PMs, add as moderators, …) there will be intelligent grouping of your contacts based on wiki membership
- simply, you can think of members of a wiki in terms of a group of people
- Everywhere you choose users (invite, write PMs, add as moderators, …) there will be intelligent grouping of your contacts based on wiki membership
- Invite from GMail, YahooMail and so…
- Every user gets their personal wiki initially filled with some nice widgets that show theirs activity on wikis (most recent contributes, most active wikis and so)
- think of it like a fully customizable profile page
Some of the ideas are to be implemented in current version of Wikidot. All are subject to do in Wikidot 2.0 for sure.
And in some time… welcome to the new — social dimension of wiki hosting.
When can we expect the release to be?
